Specifications Mestic split unit air conditioner SPA-3000
Mestic's mobile split air conditioner has a cooling capacity of 895 W and an operating temperature between 16 °C to 30 °C. With this power, the air conditioner is guaranteed to cool caravans up to 5 m or an area of up to 25 m3. In addition, the air conditioner is equipped with the R290 refrigerant, which is very efficient and environmentally friendly. Refrigerant R290 only has a GWP (Global Warming Potential) of 3, while refrigerant R32 has a value of 657. The environmentally friendly refrigerant is pure gas with no chemicals containing greenhouse gases. The dimensions of the indoor unit are 37 x 44 x 20 cm (wxdxh) and the dimensions of the outdoor unit are 31 x 45 20 cm (wxdxh).

Tested for cooling power and noise level
During the study, the split unit air conditioner was tested for cooling capacity and noise level. This took into account that it is a small air conditioner and is intended for a caravan or camper.
Cooling performance test
To perform the cooling capacity test, two different rooms were used. First, in a 15 m2 room. This is more square meters than the Split unit air conditioner's specifications indicate. The test room was 29.1 degrees at the beginning of the test. After 30 minutes, the temperature dropped to 25.7 degrees. In the following hours, the temperature did not drop anymore and remained between 25 and 26 degrees.
The second cooling test is conducted in a 10 m2 office. This room also has a large window facing the sun, this makes it more challenging to cool down the room. At the beginning of the test, the room has a temperature of 30.1 degrees. After 30 minutes, the temperature had dropped to 26.4 degrees and after 90 minutes to 24.6 degrees. The temperature did not drop much further after that. What was noticed during the test is that it gets much colder at ground level than at desk level. This makes sense, since cold air does not rise. To remedy this, you can place the air conditioner on an elevation.
Noise test
The big advantage of the Mestic Split unit air conditioner SPA-3000 over mobile air conditioners is that the unit has no buzzing or humming compressor indoors. So the only sound you hear is the fan. Of course, you can also hear the outdoor unit a bit, but this is not perceived as disturbing. The following average values were measured:
- Highest setting: 58.8dB
- Sleep mode: 52.9dB
The noise level is significantly better than the mobile air conditioners tested further. The fact that the split unit air conditioner has an outdoor unit is an incredibly big advantage when it comes to noise! The outdoor unit does a great job of exhausting all the hot air. This of course involves noise, but it is not considered disturbing. In addition, no vibrations are detected.
Advantages of using the Mestic SPA-3000 in the home
When drawing a conclusion, it is important to remember that the air conditioner was developed for use in caravans and RVs. However, the Mestic split unit air conditioner SPA-3000 comes out of the test very well. For example, the outdoor unit offers great advantages over mobile air conditioners:
- The hose to the outside is much thinner, a window seal may no longer be needed
- The buzzing/buzzing sound often seen with mobile air conditioners is totally absent
- The entire indoor unit is cool, there is no longer an indoor hot element
Furthermore, the cooling performance is also good. The air conditioner provides good cooling in a room of 6 to 9 square meters. For larger spaces, it is wiser to look at larger air conditioners specifically designed for homes.
